Just got some very sad news. One of the great fixtures in the music scene here in Berlin, Bruno Adams, passed away last week after a long struggle with cancer.
I am not going to pretend that I knew Bruno well, but we were in contact quite a bit a few years ago when he had his own club and I will forever be grateful that he allowed me to play there several times. He was a really interesting guy and we had some good chats in those days about his move from Australia to Berlin and how he used to hang around with Nick Cave and how it was a really wild and creative time in the city. I think he missed those days a lot and was disappointed to see the city become more and more gentrified as the years went on. But to his credit he kept at it with his music despite little commercial success and for me is an example of a true musician and music lover. I am sure he would have enjoyed earning a bit more with his music but that wasn't the point. He did it because it was his passion.
I am sure he will be missed by many around here and beyond.
Rest in peace Bruno...or should I say, "Rock On". Yes, I think that would be more appropriate.
All for today...
